During and after the XX century wars and the economical crisis - not all were under the poster “dolce vita” (sweet life) -, many Italians / Europeans moved all around the world, keeping with them some values and principles that they handed down to their descendants in those far lands. Those of them who could then come back to Italy / Europe, have seen that these values and principles have not survived the passing of time: dignity, transparency, respect, sincerity, delicacy, friendship, tolerance, freedom of thought and expression. To those who felt the disillusion of this situation, we devote our efforts for the creation of this web site, through some characters created by Guareschi and then become movie personages.

In the present era of digital communication, the creation of a virtual space like this one, requires the commitment, the constancy, the kindness and the professionalism of a great team of people, who, coordinated despite the space and time distances, believed and supported this project firmly. It is important to underline that nobody received a euro cent from any public or private institution as a compensation for the time spent working on this portal and cd-rom.

As maintained by K. Kelly “it is the communication that makes the world move, not computers. Communication is the base of our civilization, culture, memory and of our identity as human beings”. In these pages and links we will find languages, literature, cultural heritage, tourism, history, digital design, and much more. In many cases the knowledge and experience of MEHEM (Methodology for Heuristic Evaluation in Multimedia), MECEM (Metrics for the Comunications Evaluation in Multimedia) and HEDCDEH (Heuristic Evaluation Disk for Communication and Design in Hypermedia) have been applied.

At last, more than 300 photos on a multimedia off-line system “Little World: Virtual Postcards” are being utilised to recount the past, present and future of one of the most dynamic and promising tourist regions in central Italy: Emilia-Romagna. The cultural and natural heritage of this geographical region is very rich and varied. Six languages in this CD-ROM: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.
